- Thank you again Yasmin. I can't thank you enough for helping me with sorting out this position as I would not of had the opportunity otherwise.
It's been an adventurous week!
Last week I was lucky enough to go Winter Mountaineering in The Cairngorms, Scotland. With no experience I was totally out of my comfort zone!
I was helping out with a school group who were up there for the week. The conditions were good, and challenging. Lots of snow, at times 50 mph winds and -15 with the windchill factor. I consider myself pretty fit but this was another level.
We spent full days walking up mountains, building shelters, using Crampons to walk on ice, learnt how to do 'ice axe arrests' and navigation skills. One day we hiked and spent the night in a 'Bothy' (basic mountain shelter). We had to carry all our overnight gear, food and fuel to have a fire. Everyone embraced the challenge!
So what has the week taught me? It is good to have the confidence to push your boundaries. We all get stuck into the routine of work and it healthy to allow yourself some time out to do something completely different! It was really great to see a group of young people encourage each other and embrace the challenges!
