Attending an Interview in the Heat!

Attending Interview in the Heat!

So, we all know what wonderful weather we are having, and I think most of us would say ‘long may it continue’. It is so lovely to be able to spend the time outside all weekend and in the evenings after work.  We are all rather hot in the office here in Cheltenham.  It can be a challenge being in an old building which doesn’t have air conditioning, the fans are going non-stop and every window is open.  We are not adverse to the odd ice cream too – any excuse to keep us cool.
If you have an interview coming up in this hot weather, our top tips are as follows:-

1)Travel to the interview in the coolest way possible. If you are able to get there by car with the air conditioning on this would be ideal.
2)If you are using public transport, allow plenty of time, so that you are not rushing and can get to the interview ‘slow time’
3)In most cases you will still need to attend in business dress. But most companies will have a slightly relaxed approach for sure.  For instance if you are wearing a suit, lose the jacket until you arrive, and when you get into the room and settle, take the jacket off. Tailored business dresses are a good option for women, and again lose the jacket on arrival.  The interviewers will be just as hot as you are and will have done the same.
4)Drink plenty of water on the way to the interview and ensure you are well hydrated
5)Remember you still need to dress to impress, just because the sun is shining it is not acceptable to go dressed for the beach.

All the very best with that job interview!
