- ‘Brite went to great lengths helping me find my new employment'
Cheltenham Literature Festival
Starting at the end of this week, Cheltenham Literature Festival will be taking place just around the corner from us here at Brite Recruitment. Having only moved here in May, this will be my first festival. Graduating with a degree in English Literature, it’s safe to say I’m very excited! Hosted by the Times and Sunday Times, the next few weeks will be filled with literature-lovers seeing some of the world’s leading novelists, historians, philosophers and politicians.
The festival was formed in 1949 by the Times and Sunday Times and is the longest running festival of its kind in the world. Its guests have ranged from Cecil-Day Lewis (reading at the first festival), Stephen Fry, Ian McEwan, Doris Lessing, Stephen Hawking, Dawn French, Toni Morrison, Bob Geldoff, to Miranda Hart and Hilary Clinton (who will be making an appearance this year).
At the festival, there are both paid and free talks for everyone to enjoy and plenty of stimulating events to encourage children to read and engage with literature- including a giant crossword wall for visitors to complete!
The festival provides something for everyone. Whether you’re a keen reader, enjoy watching comedians or want to listen to your favourite ‘Great British Bake Off’ host talk about her career – Cheltenham is the place to be from 6th-15th October!
The actual festival is spread throughout Cheltenham centre, mainly Montpellier Gardens and the Town Hall, with specific areas for children and ‘reading zones’.
It is a literature lover’s dream and the Festival hopes to encourage and inspire people of all ages to grab and read a book. If you are wanting more career inspiration, here at Brite we can help! Have a browse of our current vacancies or call one of our Account Managers for further advice!
