Branch Business Manager

Our client, a leading distributor of high-quality tools plus safety and maintenance products, are looking for a Branch Business Manager to join their team in Glasgow. The role will enhance the margins generated by the Branch. The right candidate will lift sales and business development while enhancing the customer experience. Suitable candidates will have previous related industry experience within tooling, MRO or PPE.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Taking ownership of the sales effectiveness and gross margin of the Branch
  • Developing and executing sales plan to grow branch-based customers
  • Handling the customer service experience through all key touchpoints in the customer journey
  • Delivering the product to meet customer requirements
  • Managing stock held in the branch in line with supply chain process and procedures
  • Executing all contracted customer SLA’s
  • Executing promotions provided by product teams
  • Ensuring the revenue generation from carriage is recovered
  • Driving productivity, growth and profit improvement within the branch
  • Working closely with Key Accounts to maximise the development of all customer accounts
  • Working closely with the Purchasing team to maximise spends from preferred suppliers
  • Helping shape the continued successful execution of the business strategy


Skills & Experience:

  • Previous related industry experience within tooling, MRO or PPE
  • Ownership of a significant P&L is essential
  • Proven track record in the business-to-business services market
  • Previous experience in managing teams including recruitment, training and development
  • Demonstrable leadership experience in a process centric transactional business
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience of ‘profit engineering’ contracts and servicesNew business planning, development and implementation
  • Profit and cost centre management accountability
  • Commercial Sales and Key Account development
  • Process awareness and system skills
  • Proven ability to drive and deliver profitable growth
  • Customer relationship management experience and a strong customer service ethos
  • Pipeline management and an understanding of customer churn and how to reverse trends of negative to positive
  • Confidence with a drive to challenge and develop the performance to the next level
