Cloud Operations Engineer
Full-Time, Permanent

Our client, a pioneering technology start-up is looking for a Cloud Operations Engineer to join their technical team in Oxford on a full-time, permanent basis. You will be working with a team of experienced hardware and software engineers, data scientists and algorithm developers. The role ensures the business maintains a secure and reliable service.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring thousands of remote devices
  • Monitoring aggregated fleet performance
  • Monitoring cloud infrastructure
  • Correcting problems with remote devices via Puppet (or similar configuration management tool)
  • Correcting problems with cloud infrastructure, via AWS CloudFormation (or similar infrastructure definition tool)
  • Regularly reviewing and updating remote and cloud devices
  • Notifying team of performance issues
  • Using GiT and Office 365 to ensure the team is updated on changes

  • Linux based device security
  • Remote device software update management
  • Risk & vulnerability assessments
  • Cloud security (especially using AWS)
  • Infrastructure as code
  • DevOps (especially Jenkins and AWS CodePipeline configuration)
  • Python programming
  • AWS Lambda programming
  • Java programming
  • JavaScript programming
  • Agile software development
  • Object-oriented design
  • Algorithm development
  • Lab testing and performance/behavioural analysis of electrical equipment (especially of battery inverters, EVs, heat pumps or hot water tanks)
  • Knowledge of IoT device communication protocols (e.g. Modbus, CAN bus, Zigbee)
  • Simulation or mathematic modelling (especially of behaviour of battery inverters, PV or home electricity use)
  • ISO 27000 series implementation
  • ISO 9001 implementation
  • General IT administration
