Race week has finally arrived here at Cheltenham and the excitement is palpable.
Cheltenham Festival is one of the most prestigious jump racing events of the year with over 260,000 spectators crowding the town. During this week, Cheltenham Racecourse will host 4 days of extraordinary racing with the best British and Irish horses competing alongside the finest jockeys, owners, and trainers.
In light of this event, we want to help you ‘win the race’ with your job search. However, searching for a job is not a quick process.
Winning the Job Race
When applying for jobs, it is not about getting a job fast. Although you have got competition, there is no race to be won. It is important that you take your time and make sure you are applying for the right job roles with a rightly adjusted CV.
Rather than battling your rivals with speed, you should consider the quality of your CV and covering letter. Jobs are not offered on a first come, first served basis. Recruiters are looking for that quality candidate that can prove their skills and experience. They want someone that fits the job description perfectly. Not someone that’s hot off the mark and applies for the job straight away.
Get a Job Fast
Searching for a job is not something that should be rushed. You should not aim to get to the finish line as quick as possible. The challenge should be more like a marathon than a sprint. Although you may be the best person for the job, you need to explain to the recruiter why that is so. We recommend having a read of CV Library’s Career Advice on How To Tailor Your CV to Different Jobs.
If you rush your CV, and don’t apply your specific industry knowledge directly to what the employer is looking for, they are not going to understand why you are the best person for the job.
